"can do 38-43k easily if you phone line is close to the central office (most are)... ." don't know, Andy where you get this information and what it means since it's the number of conversions which affect download speed as well as the condition of local lines as many many people with technical expertise have reiterated on this thread on countless occasions. Furhter, connect speed is no indication of throughput. As someone just posted from connecticut, connection there is often no faster than 28.8. The future of coms may lie in its development of cable modems. msft has extended its investment in cable companies in the last few days. Anecdotal information is often useful (as i have learned from background in clinical research) but it cannot replace carefully collected and analysed data and your remark is an example of intellectual gobbledygook.
