They want him to be empathetic, too. Maureen Dowd says Obama should be "a prism in moments of fear and pride, reflecting what Americans feel." And he must express these feelings sort of like our national mood ring. If we're feeling "sensitive," Obama's face should turn green. Bill O'Reilly the other night had a whole segment on "Does Mr. Obama really lack empathy?" O'Reilly thinks:

Now if this is what the world sees our press folks seeking news items because this is what the American public would generally pay for, then they make fun of us and call us the US of A. I see some of the sitcoms which project anger, frustration and disappointment in their episodes. all those days of jocularity, feel good with a sense of achievement are a thing of the past.

No more Walter Cronkite types any more.
