If anyone is following the DIVX SNIC merger announcement, I'll comment briefly:

1. It builds a powerhouse that speeds up adoption of the RoxioNow worldwide due to the existing DIVX footprint.
2. The initial market reaction was only slightly positive, as the combined market caps were higher the day of the announcement. Since then there has been a drop, but hard to say if due to general market action.

One thing about the DIVX conf call that bothered me and still does was the eps projection for 3/31/11 - 3/31/12 of .40

I'd like to know the assumptions that go into that model, as I hope/suspect they are conservative. My own projections wait for 100 million devices, so would apply to 12 months or so after that.

Nevertheless, a lot of people pay attention to the numbers. I wonder what the outcome will be in the short run (ie next year) given these kinds of numbers--played out against some incredible news items that will tell the true story of our likely dominance. I suspect that as long as the general market does ok (questionable) we'll have increasing demand as the story continues to grow and be understood. We'll have those on the other side who will rely heavily on the 40 cents, so shorting may continue for a while...At some point it will blow through so if you are truly long term none of this will matter because the numbers will only get better. Until then, I will be looking to buy on dips and may have to play the news items more on short term. But, I'll always keep a core long term because it is a dangerous game to bet against the very long term...people will know things before you and I and the stock could just explode one of these days for reasons we won't know until later..

I still think $100 a share or more is quite possible several years out.
