I or the referenced article did not say Greece and US were identical, just that the overspending on a welfare state is not sustainable.

In a story about the IMF's analysis of the U.S. economy, the author points out that "under the Obama administration's current fiscal plans, the national debt in the U.S. (on a gross basis) will climb to above 100% of GDP by 2015 -- a far steeper increase than almost any other country."
