Balancing nails answer.

Hold two of the six nails together (parallel) but with the head and the point in opposite directions. Put two more nails perpendicular between the first two nails so the heads of these nails catch. Put the last two nails between the first two nails but the opposite way so the heads of these nails catch (still perpendicular to the first two, but in the other direction of the second two.)
Now put the nails on the head of the nail pounded in the wood so one of the first two nails is on its side and balancing. The last four nails will hang down and the heads will catch the top nail and hold it and themselves securely.

(I'd draw it if I could.)
