I don't order hamburgers when I go to any of the fast food restaurants, except In 'n Out once in a great while. But I'll try to pay more attention to pricing in the future now that I see how much a dime can impact earnings. I think MacDonalds had their new improved hamburger at a limited time special for $0.99, but I don't know if it's still on.

Foodmaker's strategy is to offer value on the menu with their $.99 items for those that are looking for a deal, but to concentrate on the adult sandwhiches which have been doing very well as alternatives to the typical burger. I've noticed that even if you buy one or two $0.99 items, it's easy to go over $5.00 by adding fries, drink and apple turnover. Also, it's tempting to add a $0.99 item to your regular order if you're really hungry, and I'm sure this is one reason why the average ticket price has been going up.
