I look at those helmets and wonder how many of the men in that photo survived.

We lost 4000 there at Omaha. An unmitigated disaster. If the rest hadn't gone well, we would have pulled out and relieved Ike. The Brits knew what they were doing from the start. They set up the camps in Britain so that they could take the Northern, short route. If we had taken their route, the war would have been over that fall.
