You are a small, homogeneous country, Dybdahl. The U.S. is comprised of numerous competing constitencies, all of who want to be the most powerful and get the most government largesse. The Founding Fathers could never have envisioned that the Constitution could handle a population and diversity like ours. They didn't even count slaves as people, of course. SG
