Khrushchev tried the Cuban thing because he thought he was dealing with a punk in the form of Kennedy. He didn't dare try that while Eisenhower, a World War II general, was in the White House.

And look at what North Korea, Iran, and now Turkey are coming up with as they see Reverend Wright's disciple, who bows lower than the crotch of the head of Saudi Arabia, sitting in the White House.

Heads of such countries are hoodlums. Hoodlums who rose to the top over the rest of the competing hoodlums in their country.

When hoodlums smell weakness they go into action.
They don't seem to fear a US president who closes Guantanamo, travels the world apologizing for the US, says people "should not jump to conclusions" when the Fort Hood killer yells allah akbar as he kills, tells the Turkish parliament that the US is a "muslim" country, etc etc.

From their viewpoint they see a pathetic punk in way over his head and they act accordingly.
