Sal, you're obsessed with Bill Gates too. As am I. It behooves everybody who's in the computer business one way or the other to be obsessed with Bill Gates and Microsoft, one way or the other.

As to foul language, that was in reference to the stupid comment by Tod Nielsen, Vice President of Developer Relations, Microsoft. As I said, I think washing children's mouths out with soap is barbaric, apparently Mr. Nielsen disagrees. I can't help it if he says stupid things, although I've come to expect stupid things to be said by Microsofties whenever Java is involved. They just can't come up with a company line that makes any sense, so they have to keep spouting nonsense.

I don't think what MSFT wants to do with Java is juvenile. They've made the business decision that Java is a threat to their franchise, so they're fighting it.

That's fine, but that's not what the PR guys are saying. Java is a great language, Sun should give up the Java name, Sun is so hypocritical, we've just got to make Java save for Windows, blah blah blah. I know, it's unethical to be ethical in business, so if you can't tell the truth because it would interfer with your business plan to stretch your monopolistic death grip as far and wide as possible, you just lie all over the place. Once more, who is supposed to believe the Microsoft line on Java? It's such a great language, it just has to be made safe for Windows? All part of the integrity and uniformity of the Windows Experience, I guess, but I think the experience would be better if they figured out how to keep the stupid OS from crashing first.

Cheers, Dan.
