How To’s and Hacks – More and more people love to get their hands on resources about how they can “Do It Themselves” or DIYs type of posts. These types of articles show the step by step guide on how to do “something”. But of course, you will have to take into consideration, your niche. Write a ‘How To’ on what will be relevant to your readers. Give them a blow by blow account from start to finish.
Doing this type of post also allows you to get traffic to your site too. It is also important for you to make sure that the DIY you are writing about is something you have a great deal of knowledge about as people will tend to write their comments in the form of a question on some point that they might need clarification on in case they get stumped on a step or two.
You could even create a video and include that in your post. Visual aids in your tutorials will certainly help your readers get the most out of your article. The possibilities are endless with Hacks and How To’s. Image Source.
Contests and Giveaways – Another good way for you to get comments is via a contest or giveaway type of post. It takes a bit of planning to come up with this type of article. You need, of course, to make sure that you have enough resources. Doing one is quite simple, in terms of writing up the mechanics. Have a prize and ask your readers to post comment as a requirement for them to be eligible to join the contest. Simple right? Please consider some of these points to ensure its success:
One is the prize, is it something that will compel people to participate? Do you have the money to buy the prize? And if yes, make sure that you have some left over for sending that prize out to the winners. Your credibility is at stake here, so make sure that after a winner is chosen, you send it out right away.
Another important thing to consider is what type of comment do you want? Conjure your mechanics in a way that allows your reader to interact with you as the writer. This, in the long run, will help boost your traffic as you will have not just gained readers but also have created a start to forming relationship with your readers.Image Source
Personal Experiences – Another type of post that can get you lots of comments would be the ones that are written from personal experiences. It can be a story about yourself and your experiences in certain situations. It can be about a triumph or a challenge you have encountered and how you overcame such adversity.
You can also write something about an experience that may not necessarily be about your personal life. It can be articles that your readers can actually relate to. It can be about planning a wedding and how you went through it. There are so many topics out there that you can write about but the main ingredient is your personal assessment on the subject matter.
I see people reacting to posts that I have written in the past, about how I overcame a problem with my computer or what I did when my Twitter account got suspended. Topics that people commented on because they felt they can share in that experience and they may have additional tips that can help your readers. Image Source.
Showcase or Show Me Posts – Another type of post that I encounter and have so many times joined in and commented on is the ’show me’ types of posts.
This type of post is wonderful in getting feedback about processes that what other people’s experiences have been.
Other ways are by asking your readers to share a link of some of the work that they have done. It is a great way to highlight your reader’s works. Students and those new to the type of article you are writing will most definitely join in on the fun and plus this also allows them to get some exposure. So it is a win-win situation for you, the author of the blog, as well as for your readers.
Topics can vary from the tools that they have used in developing a website to the type of recipe or a craft that they have recently done. One of my most favorite ones that I participated in was to send in your sketches and what prompted the idea to come up with the said drawings. The main thing to consider here though is to enable your blog to accept such entries. We, of course, will discuss that in a separate article. There are a lot of plugins now available that will allow you to gather this type of feedback from your readers. Image Source
Mega Lists and Resources – I am sure that you have already come across this type of post and if you’ve noticed, not only is it shared by so many people via social networking sites, but also you will see that they get tons of comments.
Building lists of resources takes a lot of time and is very tedious process but I can assure you it is well worth doing. There are are lot of topics that you can touch on and be assured of the many resources available on the web. Here you are allowing people to save time by letting them have information on one site. You choose a topic and then get as much information on that one topic. Just make sure that if you borrow pictures or statements from another site you credit them for it or add a link back to their site.
You can also put together tools or applications that will benefit your niche, try to dabble around and use the applications first hand so that people get the best recommendations from you. You will see that the comments you will get will vary, from people thanking you for putting the list together and them adding to your list. Image Source
Comprehensive and In Depth Posts – these are the meaty, thought provoking articles that are usually long and tackle an issue or a topic in depth.
The writer usually posts both popular opinions and his own opinions and then invites others to have their opinions heard as well.
When a writer gives his or her opinion on a hot topic most often than not, they touch a chord that makes readers evaluate their own way of thinking thus opening a venue for them which will definitely invite a lot of comments. One must be of course ready to answer or react to your reader’s comments. I have in so many instances seen a lot of debates that happen from just one single post and it was quite interesting to see how the author reacted to each and every single comment.
Just make sure that you are well versed with the topic that you will write about and things will be okay. In the end, people who get to read the way you handle things will most definitely give you respect and in turn, you will get recommended for other people to check out your site. Image Source
Creative Articles or Out of the Ordinary Posts - These are posts that not only catch your eye in terms of visuals but also articles that make you say “WOW”.
Creative posts are the ones that have the wow factor in them, they make the readers say, “How did he do that?”
Most articles that I have read and commented on are from designers and photographers that go out of their way and give their work the extra ooomph so to speak. They are mind boggling and give that extra sensory experience. Most of the ones I love are those that share micro photography or high speed pictures and films as well as designs that are totally out of this world. Most designers and photographers do these types of posts and get huge comments and following. Some even go the extra mile to show us how they do it.
Creativity is one key element with this type of post and I believe it is comment worthy. Don’t you think so too? Image source
LOL or Funny Posts – Nothing makes my day more than getting a dose of humor in what i read. I often encounter a lot of these types of posts that I have commented on and saw a lot of comments made before me.
As they say, laughter is the best medicine and posts with humor in them not only get lots of comments but also tons of traffic. This type of posts becomes viral in itself and gets passed on to friends and family.
We are often bogged down with so many problems and worries and there is nothing like a cute and funny post to help put us in a good mood, right?
The majority of the posts I see do not necessarily have to be jokes or gags, they can be in the form of comic strips and funny pictures of people, animals etc…
So if you are the type who has the knack for making people laugh or even just smile, maybe writing a funny post will get your blog noticed and get lots of traffic and comments too. Image source
Getting feedback for your articles will take time and a lot of creativity. Try to go around the interwebs and start commenting on other blogs too. This will not only give you an idea as to what other people want to read but also help broaden your horizon and meet interesting people you can share with in the near future. One can really alternate or use all 8 depending on what topic you write about. Try and see which one works best for you.
