Ciena net loss narrows; Q3 sales target beats view

NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Ciena Corp. (NASDAQ:CIEN) said Wednesday its second-quarter loss narrowed to $90 million, or 97 cents a share, from $503.2 million, or $5.53 a share, in the year-ago period. Its adjusted net loss for the latest period totaled 13 cents a a share. Revenue nearly doubled to $206.4 million, from $119 million. Wall Street analysts expected Ciena to report a loss of 25 cents a share, on revenue of %255.5 million, according to a survey by FactSet Research. Looking ahead, Ciena said it expects third-quarter revenue of $375 million to $400 million, ahead of the Wall Street target of $337 million. |
