It illustrates nothing directly relevant to your question. Your question (or really Bob Cesca's question which you posted), was "How soon until the free market stops the oil spill?", not "How soon until the free market stops/finishes the lawsuits/court fights?"

Companies can be expected to do what is best for their bottom lines.

And stopping this spill as soon as they can is best for BP's bottom line.
