I haven't taken any side but my own. I will take all practical steps to protect my interests, not at anyone else's expense, by the way, but I don't count persuasion as being one of them. Whether you're talking religion or gun control, the real issue is that these types wish to control others, and you will never persuade them to behave otherwise. Increasingly, the only effective response is force, whether the force of dollars (i.e. the NRA), or that implied by the sentiment "over my dead body". The latter is not a practical response for me at this time (i.e. the risk/reward ratio does not favor it), but there are historical precedents.
