Excellent post. Long term all that stuff has to happen, although getting away from "burning stuff" for energy is problematic. Of course by that I assume you imply we focus on energy conservation and efficiency which made sense 35 years ago and still makes sense today (and even more sense in the future). We can burn stuff that's a bit less harsh on the environment (natty gas instead of gasoline perhaps). We should be doing all of the above in fact, but not with cap and trade as a catalyst.
