Sam ,did you watch Apple trade on Level 2 today? You are excatly correct when you talk about the stall at 18 1/2 yesterday and at 19 today. However, the thing that gets me is the increasing volume the last few days. It is uncanny how similiar the last few days have been compared to the last few days before the MSFT deal a few months back. The most amazing aspect today was the amount of blocks going through at the offer. I saw a couple 50k and 100k share blocks and several 10-25k ones...almost all being at the offer by Goldman. Possible scenario: Goldman is hedging against the heavy option activity lately. There is no selling pressure, quite the opposite..someone is buying loads of shares and Goldman is acting as the stock controller not letting the stock get to far ahead of itself by sitting on the offer and regulating the mini runs throughout the day. Goldman left the offer about 1:30 today and the block trades practically stopped. The big boys were buying in the morning and left the traders to do what they wished the last few hours...that is why it ran to 19 1/2 and back down to 19.
