I'll say two things: Matt Simmons has done some great work in the past, and this is not part of it.
So much of what he is saying is so profoundly wrong, and so profoundly misguided, that my first conclusion is that his life style must be one of extreme isolation - or he's been set up. He has obviously not spoken with anyone who has even a smattering of basic geological or engineering knowledge, before putting himself on the air. It is almost embarrassing to watch.
He is wrong about nearly everything. He is especially wrong imagining that reservoir pressures are "40 - 50,000 psi" (they are ~13,000psi, by direct measurement), or that oil sinks in water rather than floating, or that tankers are equipped to "suck" oil up from the seabed, or that.....well never mind. You get the idea, this is my opinion of what he has to say.
