It is unfortunate for the British Govt. to get involved. This is a British company all right, but they need t o follow the laws of the countries in which they operate.

While BP is being accused of downplaying the release of info on the size of the leak, I would say that the series of figures they put out were not lies but estimates. They clearly failed to state that. Furthermore, when the scientists wanted to measure the flow through instruments etc., BP should not have stood in the way. They should have provided scientists the full co-operation.

It was BP who initially unleashed the full force of their lawyers instead of working with the community who would likely be affected. By doing so they have exposed themselves to the long arm of the law. They have stated untrue info on their application for this well. I agree that MMS should have verified the info before granting then the drilling license. The MMS is being taken care of and heads are rolling. I presume. But even BP is culpable and they should be subjected to the full force of the law including penalty for negligence and falsifying information if that is what the investigation reveals.

We are a nation of laws and yp all those who advocate that law be applied for the illegal immigration issue, I would say that we continue to do the same for corporations.
