Yeah, well they still got the sunny weather. And they'll prolly legalize weed in a year or two. Other places have "casinos" including Arizona, but it's not the same.

They need to reinvigorate the host system, and get in better touch with the big and medium sized fish clientele. Those guys don't wanna gamble at their local riverboat, they want the glitz and sleaze that only Vegas can provide!

To give you an example, I was staying at an off strip casino in '03, prior to buying a place in LV. I was comped for the room by the casino host. Stayed for about 5 days, had a crappy session betting 100 min/hand and had lost about 3 grand. Ask host for comp for food/beverage in addition to room (and rooms in this place were NOT luxurious or expensive, about 100/night at the time tops). He wouldn't budge for the maybe 500 bucks in FB comps. Haven't set foot in the place since.....but I've beaten one of their sister casinos out of about 25K in blackjack winnings since then, and I enjoy the hell out of it.

Perhaps they'd rated my play as being unprofitable to them, (so no enhanced comps) but I doubt they're that good (at least not back then). In any event, they still send me mailers for free rooms, but it's not enough for that level of action.
