Bear,

What do you expect when you have a lawyer in charge of an enterprise? The sums of their own judgments in these matters tends to be poor. I know of another small company in the US headed by a lawyer who has a lot of good ideas, but bad business judgment, and diluted his company's resources. Doesn't seem that much different in the bigger picture than what was done here.
