Ibexx, Sorry for taking so long to respond. Concerning database vendors for SAP, I looked up the SAP web site to see all their technology parters. The complete list is: Adobe, Apple, EMC, Haht, Hewlett-Packard, IBM, IDS Prof. Scheer, Informix, Intel, iXOS, Microsoft, Oracle, Software AG, and Sun. I guess that Sybase never was in the picture. In my opinion, the main database choice for companies purchasing SAP software would be Oracle, Informix, and IBM's DB2.
