2010 FORMULA 1 GRAND PRIX DU CANADA

Provisional Results

One of the best races of the season. Tires played the most important role. Montreal is a very tough race on both, brakes
and tires, the soft compound almost would not last with the full fuel load at the start of the race. Hamilton, Alonso,
and Button managed their tires and brakes superbly.

Webber chose the wrong compound at the start with the heavy fuel on board. Vettel had 'engine issues'. The team would
not disclose what troubled Vettel, who had to nurse his engine towards the end.

Lots of pushing and shoving during the first lap, the victims were Kobayashi, who retired on lap 1, de la Rosa, Luzzi,
Massa, Sutil, all had to come in the pits to replace noses, and all lost positions. Some, like Massa and de la Rosa were
out of the points, Liuzzi and Sutil managed to finish in the points.

Alonso and Hamilton had a great duel, at first it looked as thought Alonso would get the upper hand. In a sprint off
the pit lane after their first tire change, Alonso managed to be ahead of Hamilton. In a subsequent tire change, Hamilton
got the position back, which would turn out to be crucial....

Alonso looked set to finish second, but upon coming into traffic, Jensen Button managed to pass Alonso as Fernando
was slowed by Buemi.... Alonso was not able to get the position back (a three point difference)

Vettel finished 4th nursing his engine, Webber follows, having to stop from the lead, because his tires were gone, his
strategy in shreds, but does take fifth. Rosberg continues to better teammate Schumaher and takes sixth, followed by
Kubica in the Renault, and Buemi for Toro Rosso. The Force India pair, take the final points paying positions Liuzzi and Sutil

Kubica gets fastest lap
