UAE authorities to request extradition of suspect in Al Mabhouh murder Authorities to request for extradition of latest arrested suspect in Hamas man's murder in Dubai By Siham Al Najami, Staff Reporter Published: 10:00 June 13, 2010 gulfnews.com Dubai: Authorities in the country are cooperating with Polish and German authorities to obtain more information about an alleged Israeli suspect arrested in connection with the assassination of Hamas commander Mahmoud Al Mabhouh in Dubai before requesting for his extradition. A security source told Gulf News that they are currently verifying whether the arrested Mossad agent suspect in Poland under Germany's request is one of the already listed suspects on the arrest warrant by Interpol. The source said that they will request for his extradition soon. Read special coverage of the Al Mabhouh murder case The suspect identified as Uri Brodsky was arrested early June on arrival at Warsaw's airport on suspicions that he helped a member of the hit squad get a German passport in June 2009, a spokesman for German federal prosecution said as stated in media reports, confirming a report in German magazine Der Spiegel. Mahmoud Al Mabhouh, 50, was found dead in his room in the Al Bustan Rotana hotel near Dubai airport on January 20. "[Uri Brodsky] might already be one of the suspects we listed in our arrest warrants but with a different name. If he is a different person, we will definitely issue an arrest warrant through Interpol and in both cases we will request for his extradition," he said. The arrest was linked to the German investigation into the illegal obtaining of a passport in the name of Michael Bodenheimer, which was allegedly used by one of the assassins. Meanwhile Al Mabhouh's family was quoted saying to Al Jazeera that they urge the UAE "to act quickly and demand that the Israeli suspect be handed over to it, so he can be indicted at the site of the assassination."
