hurricanes tend to happen when the atlantic has a lot of stored heat energy.

hurricanes can be thwarted by high altitude wind shears, like those created in this past el nino cycle.

since hurricanes help to cool the oceans by dispersing heat energy, it makes sense that this would be an active hurricane season since last year was a yawn factory.

el nino years tend to be warmer than non-el nino years, so the idea that the global average temperature is above normal is not shocking. it is expected.

none of this is news. It's how this planet works.

but it doesn't get headlines, so count on a liberal to create a crisis so that they can make sure it doesn't go to waste.
