He survived being gut shot shot at Vimy by crawling several miles and being rescued by the Red Cross, he was just past twenty. After he recuperated he worked as a lumberjack with his dad and brothers and later as a drill instructor in the RCMP. Never really talked about his involvement in the war and never went to any of the reunions. I heard the only reason he signed up was so he could go back to Wales to beat up his uncle that used to boss him and his cousin around when they were young lads working as water haulers at a coal mine.
