I don't think that steam pressure would generate a tsunami -- that implies an impulse of lifting force (like a nova) of incredible magnitude. I don't think the star/nova model is anywhere near appropriate.

But whatever... it's an unmitigated disaster and certainly has the potential to play out far worse that we collectively admit, and there is the potential for any number of surprises -- all to the downside unfortunately because the upside surprise was that they didn't do this sooner and that really doesn't matter now, does it?
