The LEAPS are cheap for a reason. The option sellers are smarter than you think. I wish I could be as optimistic as U. This is the most aggressive move GTE has ever made if this deal goes thru. If they cut the Div, the stock will tank. If they don't cut the div, they have to hand out ~ $2B on top of the $54B of debt per year. The more I think, the worst I feel. B-( The Div was one of the major reasons why Chuck had to go for cash deal to get MCI. Can you imagine if they start handing out .47/Qtr for each MCI share too?? This move is stupid IHMO. That's why the stock is down.
