They tried the big dome and it din't work because it iced up with hydrates. Maybe if they had vented the underside it might have worked better but they sunk it in the mud.

Now they are using a smaller cone where it does leak around the underside. Over half of the flow. This week they were supposed to replace it with a bigger cap that captured more oil. Dunno if they have or not.

Personally I think they should quit with the dispersants because the oil is reaching the shore under the surface. If it's allowed to surface at least the have a chave a chance of vacuuming it up before it reaches shore with large tankers w/vacuums and other devices like the 37 costner separators BP has purchased.
