6/18/10 Update It was a week when Wall Street took a back seat to the excitement of the World Cup and NBA championship. But with gold hitting a new high, the S&P 500 surviving its 200-day moving average test and a quadruple witching Friday, it's unlikely many traders were totally bored with the action. At Friday's close, both the Nasdaq Composite Index and Nasdaq Biotech Index had returned to positive territory for the year. The NCI was up 1.79% YTD (vs. down -1.13% YTD a week ago) and the NBI was up 1.57% YTD (vs. down -.50% YTD a week ago), while the Contest median was up 2.67% YTD (vs. up 2.37% YTD a week ago). FILO's portfolio (up 33.95% YTD) took back the Contest lead, with DEWDIL's portfolio (up 32.50% YTD) slipping to second place and ROCKY's portfolio (up 28.37% YTD) moving to third place. At Friday's close, 20 of the 32 Contest portfolios were in the black with 17 of the 32 topping the NBI. Below is the Top Ten list. Also below are the Top 5 & Bottom 5 Stocks ranked by % Gained and % Lost for the week (foreign stock prices are not converted to US$ in these two tables). Have a fun weekend biotechies! (All corrections, especially adjustments for splits, greatly appreciated.)
