From AOL's press release: "AOL said it added 821,000 members worldwide during the quarter to reach more than 9.4 million members on September 30, compared to a gain of 414,000 members during the fiscal 1997 first quarter."

However, the Interactive Services internet census revealed that AOL's subs grew by only 3% to 9.0 million. AOL's claim that its number of subs is accelerating is entirely dependent on the discrepancy between their figures and Interactive Services'. One set of figures is clearly wrong.

Given AOL's previous restatement of earnings and assorted misdeeds, who would you believe?
