Druss:

I thought Top Secret was intermediate between Secret and a Q clearance. The extensive process you described sounds like a Q clearance to me and they usually take 6 to 9 months to do, and you best not have any questionable relationships.

I had a friend who worked for Floating Point Systems who refused the Q clearance process because he had a sibling with a messy divorce and did not want to have the family undergo intense and extensive scrutiny. He opted for the full time armed escort with orders to use his sidearm if my friend departed from the protocol. He said it was creepy--no doors on the offices, silence, a bell-ringer going before you and guard behind, black cloth over the desks, and high back chairs turned away so you could not tell if the office was occupied. The escort personnel were serious and determined.

I doubt Zitel personnel qualify for such clearance, because they have no technology in house that is that vital and world-leading. I am not sure but I don't believe it is proper to publicize a Q clearance--this should not be taken as fuel for secret doings--the coin still makes the balance sheet no matter what. Zitel is not secretly a black project works for the Feds. They just don't fit the profile.

Best regards,
MDR
