Morning Cactus!

We've been on the beach here at Orange Beach this morning. So sad to see how bad it really is.

The sand, which is usually white, is brown from the oil. The water is not clear but looks like my pond water. Locals everywhere cleaning up the beach. Looks like 300 small boats working booms near shore. It is so much worse than you can comprehend from watching the TV reports.

I don't see any "officials" or "authority." I asked some locals and they said they don 't want the Feds here. They said they asked the Feds and got all kinds of red tape. Fed response was can't do this, can't do that, got to get approval for this and that, would take days....and as the locals told me, they told the Feds to go back to D.C., in not so kind words. Amazing, isn't it.

I am impressed by the hundreds out here that appear to have assembled and coordinated efforts under their own initiative.
