There's been a great deal of speculation that the "US household" category is really a generic catch-all category that is being funded primarily by Fed purchases. Zerohedge, among others, has run a number of articles on this in recent months.

The WSJ article mentions that toward the end of the article in its reference to Eric Sprott.
