Then there is the US which imports 2/3 of its oil and where gas is so cheap, it sits around the prices seen in the Arab countries who are net exporters. What is wrong with his picture? How can we be this stupid??? The only Arab countries I see on that chart have gasoline for less than $1/gal. You might remember a couple of years ago when gas here got to around $4/gal and Hillary Clinton and other Democrats were bashing oil companies and complaining that it was too expensive. What price do you think would be less stupid? Its not a matter of what price is stupid or not stupid. What's more important is what strategy will we develop that will encourage less dependence on foreign oil. Keeping gas at $3 does not accomplish that goal. At $4 we start to see a dropoff of gas usage. Hence I think we need to start moving prices up.
