Well, we do know they lied about how much oil was being released. Or, to be more precise, their either knew and lied about it, or they deliberately chose not to try to quantify the amount being lost and chose to publicize wild guesses.


We don't know any such thing. There is no evidence they had good numbers early on, and certainly, the federal government agreed with them.

When you talk about a "lie" you have to have some proof that somethign was a lie versus a mistake or a conservative estimate.
