"But if we know that the crash occurred while the pilot was screwing the air traffic controller and the seat belts and wing flaps were not working and the engines were falling off for lack of maintenance, we ought to ground everybody until those systems were checked on every aircraft of that type and the controllers were replaced."

Which brings us to a current problem.
Today news came out that 3 Boeing 767s had cracks in the wing pylons that the engines attach to.
This is a VERY serious problem.
Why did Obama not immediately ground all 767s until it can be proven that each and every one will not have an engine fall off mid-flight?

They "grounded" Toyota Priuses with far less direct evidence!

I can't help but wonder if Obama would have intervened if they had been Airbus A320's?
