Not at all. If he wants to express dissatisfaction with his commander-in-chief, he should have done it privately, not through a magazine reporter.

That goes for any job, but this one involves soldiers risking their lives in one of the most lawless regions in the Middle East.

Gotta ask yourself, though. Was Obama ever committed to victory in Afghanistan, or does he secretly subscribe to the viewpoint that victory there is impossible? No point in doing this half-hearted, even with a timeline in place.

I'm sure we'll get more of McChrystal's frank and honest opinion of his former superiors now that he's been relieved of his position. Maybe he'll have an axe to grind, but so did a lot of Bush's critics, including another former general, Colin Powell.
