(NECN: Portland, Ore.) - A massage therapist in Portland has accused former Vice President Al Gore of "unwanted sexual contact" at a hotel during a 2006 visit to the city, but that no charges were filed due to a lack of evidence.

The alleged incident was said to have occurred in October 2006, when Gore was in Oregon to deliver a speech on climate change.

According to a police report, the woman canceled three appointments with detectives in the months after the alleged incident -- she refused to report a crime or cooperate with the investigation. The case was reopened in January 2009, but no charges were filed due to a lack of evidence. The woman told police that Gore attempted to have sex with her during a massage appointment at the upscale downtown Hotel Lucia. The National Enquirer first reported the allegations on Wednesday.

Gore family spokeswoman Kalee Kreider said the former vice president had no comment. Gore and his wife announced June 1st they were separating.
