"Netscape, based in Mountain View, Calif., said it expects to take a charge for most of the purchase price and expects the acquisition to dilute its earnings for the next two quarters. The acquisition will
be accretive to Netscape earnings in the second half of 1998, Netscape said."

Their earnings would have been bad without the charge, so, smart managers who, it seems, are very good in handling the shareholders' money, decided to get a justification for the company's poor performance.

Netscape needs Mr. Dunlop, the "chainsaw."
