I think it is a matter of politics. If we leave and the Taliban take over Pakistan and the nukes, or we if see the Taliban and Al Qaeda regrouping in Afghanistan, he is toast and everyone who votes with him.

Remember 71% of the people were for going into Iraq. we are a war liking nation.

So it is safer for him and the dems politically to just keep fighting the war even as a stalemate.
