All I ever said, from day one, is that BP, or any and all governments, whoever can, should, on an a national emergency disaster basis get as much equipment to the gulf as quickly as possile to collect as much oil as possible by all means possible. Skimmers, absorbants, etc.

Nether BP or the feds did that. They should have spent billions on clean up equipment the first month. We have a skimmer in my town. There are many skimmers around the world and they could not possibly have too many.

I never questioned the issue of trying to stop the flow. Different issue.

I did say BP was lying from day one and continue to insist on that. I knew they would lie and so should have everyone else.

The thesis being that we had to prevent as much oil as possible from reaching land. And I question dispersants because if the oil rose to the top it would be easier to collect and less toxic.

And the most important thing, was to make the first line of defense right around where the oil is coming up as massive as possible. Once that oil gets loose it is very hard to mop up.

They should have had everything including the kitchen sink near where the oil was coming up trying to capture it as quickly as possible.

In Valdez the largest mistake was not getting equipment to the scene quickly (the clean up equipment was buried under snow) and so the oil got loose.

Now we are seeing just how devastating the oil on the shore is.

And what will happen when the hurricanes start throwing the oil and corexit all over the gulf?

Bill Nelson dem senator from Florida said the military has 40 skimmers and 26 available, but only 6 in use. He wants to know why the other 26 are not being used.
