Hmmmm...My first thought is that I'm not too sympathetic either to the notion that high earners will relocate. A lot of them would be business owners, and you don't easily relocate a business. If taxes were the major concern for successful business owners, they'd all live in FLA or TX. Agreed, pretty stale argument. Republicans are so trapped by their political promising against tax increases. OTOH, NJ is a high tax state. So where does the money go? How did such a stunningly high defict accrue? And I wonder if NJ does all it can on enforcement, i.e. collecting taxes.
