don't know if anyone noticed why Japan's market was down according to DowJones. a story was printed in the financial times there that a large bank was going to start selling more of its assets. the bank immediately denied the rumor, but appartently the market didn't believe the banks denial and began selling issues. so the fall was based on rumor, not any verifiable facts which has been typical of late

and here we are shaving billions off the US market because a reporter in Japan wrote a story based on a rumor. this happened in December of last year as well
