Pot is great in depressions too! Your tale reminds me of a trip I was on with a buddy. He developed an awful toothache on a Friday. He took all the over the counter painkillers he could handle, but they didn't do much.

I had some Xanax in my med bag - I told him they'd do nothing for the pain, but he'd care about it a whole lot less. Got him through..
