Doug, based on what andy said yesterday, intel made most of their profit on medium mass produced chips. IMHO, the reason for PII speedy price drop is that intel was able to ramp up production farely quickly. The key for intel's short term performance is that:

1. PII become the mainstream CPU ASAP(imply intel can economically mass produce PII)
2. the economy will not tank.

so you be the judge.
