my wife was invited to a tea party...

...by a friend.

only a few other women were present.

it was a farewell party for her closest friends,

the host had terminal lung cancer.

she told them a that a certain gentleman had visited her and gave her a bottle of liqueur. initially she was going to refuse it since she, being raised as a Seventh Day Adventist, NEVER drank.

but he convinced her to keep it nevertheless:

as MEDICINE.

one night she decided to try some - you know - as medicine. so she took spoonful and thought "wow, that's pretty good!"

soon, taking a little nip from the bottle became a daily affair until it was gone.

apparently the way she told the story had my wife and the other gals in stitches.

she died shortly after her tea party.

i have a lot of respect for people with strong convictions, even if i dont happen to agree with them.

my son-in-law, bless his heart, doesnt believe that Jesus drank wine (believes it was grape juice). he doesnt drink. but one hot day when he was sitting by the pool i came out with a Corona - long-neck bottle laced with salt, wedge of lime of floating on the bubbles. i asked my daughter to take a sip and she did (she doesnt drink either). she said "OH, that is soooo good! here hubby, have a taste"

he tastes and says YEAH, that is good. my daughter says "i think it would be OK if you have just ONE"

he did...lol

when we vacationed together in Hawaii i noticed the coronas in the fridge slowly disappear...lol.

i once met this really religious fanatic. he basically didnt believe ANYTHING was good. he had never been to the movies or a playhouse. somehow my wife and i convinced them to attend a play along with us. we took them to see FIDDLER ON THE ROOF.

when i turned around and looked at him during intermission he had that expression on his face that said: WHAT HAVE I BEEN MISSING?
