Kamiah is the site of a lot of history, much more than the average town of this size.

Lewis and Clark were the first white men to see it, and stayed for several weeks in both directions trading with the Nez Perce for horses.

Missionaries later became active, and converted many Indians. When I lived there we attended a church which had an Indian minister and a white congregation. Another church of the same denomination had a white minister and an Indian congregation.

I lived one block from a creek called Lawyer Creek. It was named after one of the Christian Indians.
