I have heard of Patterson, but only because of an argument. I was telling somebody that the Texas Text Book Review Group thinks the Earth is only 10,000 years old. They asked me how old it really was, and I didn't know other than to say "a lot older than that." I looked it up on Wikipedia and it turned out that Patterson dated the Earth and his number has held up for 50 years, unheard of in scientific guesstimates. I guess he also taught us not to eat paint. <G>
