Mary, it seems futile and a waste of breath (or typing) to point out the mistakes and foolishness of previous administrations. At least to me, it does. I see plenty of foolishness on both sides of the aisle, but it doesn't really matter because Obama et al have to play with the hand they were dealt.

Arguing over fairness is somewhat moot and pointless, too. The focus needs to be most on getting the biggest bang for the buck and Obama et al have failed in this, I think. The best example is the health care reform that was passed. It only will help 2/3 of the uninsured and it will distribute money to people who don't need it, who aren't necessarily poor. The closing of the donut hole for seniors being an example.

Another example is the energy tax credit of $1500. We got it by upgrading an old furnace and AC, but we sure didn't need it as we can afford to buy these appliances ourselves. I expect that the total program was not that costly, but the Federal budget is such that there's no room for any of this kind of stuff in it. Federal dollars should not be going to people who don't need it. It should always be that way...that's commonsense. But now it is paramount.

I've come to believe that the biggest weakness in the Democratic Party is it's penchant for big, complicated pieces of legislation. Stuff like this is very expensive to implement and has so many moving parts that the business community is saddled with confusion and uncertainty, plus extra costs at their end to implement.
