WWII was a special case....not only were we "spending", we had other countries productive capacities literally getting blown to bits! Thats a sure fired cure for depression, because you have NO excess capacity in that scenario, of practically every kind of product. That will never be repeated, because the next world war will also wipe out the residual producing populations as well as the capacity. To put it very mildly...... So the "solution" for the current depression was to avoid it like hell in the first place! Unfortunately Greeny and Bennie were hell bent on a ZIRP for every "crisis" real or imagined for the last 20 years. A sure fire recipe for disaster.
